ARRDEC believes that empowerment of the vulnerable youths is a result-oriented and effective means of addressing poverty in the rural community. ARRDEC’s Youth Employment Pathway Project empowers the youths through capacity building, skills acquisition, coaching, and mentorship targeting vulnerable youths viz out-of-school youths, unemployed youths, HIV positive Youths, physically challenged youths. About two hundred and eighty-eight (288) youths have been empowered by the project. In 2015, 100 (56females, 44males) selected youth farmers were sensitized, formed into farmers’ groups, and registered as cooperative societies. In Nov. 2018, 81(56 males and 25 females) youths were trained on aquaculture (catfish rearing), fish drying and provided with starter-packs such as fingerlings, trampoline ponds, fish feeds as well as post-training mentorship. On 13th December the same year, 22 (16males, 8females) participated in barbecue training. From 12th to 14th February 2019, forty (40) youths participated in our capacity-building training on soft skills acquisition. Also, on 15th March the same year, 24 youths (18males, 6females) participated in our training on chorkor Oven construction.
