Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)-Sponsored Free Medical Outreaches Implemented in Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom States
Free Medical Outreaches sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) were implemented by Antof Rural Resource Development Centre (ARRDEC) across the Senatorial Districts of four states of the Niger Delta. The Outreaches were implemented on September 02 – 09, 2019; September 16 – 26, 2019; October 07 – 16, 2019 and November 04 – 14, 2019 in Bayelsa State, Delta State, Rivers State, and Akwa Ibom State, respectively. A total of nineteen thousand, five hundred and thirty-nine (19,539) persons disaggregated into seven thousand, seven hundred and forty-five (7,745) males and eleven thousand, seven hundred and ninety-four (11,794) females benefitted from the NDDC-sponsored Free Medical Outreaches across the states while four hundred and forty-four (444) persons comprised three hundred and sixteen (316) males and one hundred and twenty-eight (128) females underwent free surgeries.


The services received by the beneficiaries were treatment for various ailments, dental care, eye care, surgical procedures, and laboratory tests. Free treatments were given for malaria, typhoid, high blood pressure, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, respiratory disorders, skin disorders, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), to other non-specific disorders.
