Report of ARRDEC’S Volunteers’ Group Visit to God’s Liberty Orphanage Home, at No. 8 Eyulor Street, Oron Town, Akwa Ibom State, on 31st May 2020.
The Covid 19 Pandemic has caused untold hardship in the lives of many people and the extent of this suffering among less privileged, IDPs, orphans, and vulnerable children cannot be measured. As part of its mandate, ARRDEC visited God’s Orphanage Home on 31st May 2020 at No. 8 Eyulor Street, Oron, Akwa Ibom State reaching out to 39 Orphans aged 7-20years comprising 19 males and 20 females with food items as palliative.
The Executive Director of ARRDEC, Very Revd. Okon Ekerendu during his remarks commended the founder of the orphanage Home, Mrs. Mary Okpoyo for a great job of raising the children in the fear of God. He promised that ARRDEC will continue to partner with Orphanage Home in this good cause. He ended his remarks with prayers for the children while prophesying that many of the children will become leaders of industries, governors, etc.
Dr. Emmanuel, former Chairman of ARRDEC Volunteers ‘Group also appreciated the founder for the good work and prayed that God will continue to strengthen her service to humanity.
Some of the children could not hide their joy during the event. One of the children, a 12-year-old boy, Udeme Effiong Anwana expressed his excitement and thanked ARRDEC for remembering them during these hard times. Also, two girls, Promise Effiong and Esther Etim Bassey, aged 12 and 13 years old respectively, prayed over the food items and thanked ARRDEC while asking God to continue to bless the organization.
The founder of the Orphanage Home, Mrs. Mary Okpoyo excitedly expressed her gratitude to ARRDEC for such a generous gesture especially in a hard time of the Covid 19 pandemic and asked God to continue to bless the ARRDEC as an organization.
