The Refresher training was organized by ARRDEC (Antof Rural Resource Development Centre) with funding support from TY Danjuma Foundation as one of the activities under Healthy Mother, Healthy Child Project. The first edition of Healthy Mother, Healthy Child Project commenced in 2019. The second edition which started in February 2020 have the goal to promote the uptake of Ante Natal Care (ANC) and Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) services at 3 PHCs each in Urue Offong/Oruko, Nsit Atai, and Mbo LGAs of Akwa Ibom State for improved Integrated, Maternal and Newborn Child Health (IMNCH) in 12 months. The Refresher Training is one of the activities under the Healthy Mother Healthy Child Project.
The Refresher Training held in Nsit Atai LGA at the operational Base, PHC Odot on September 07 & 08, 2020; in Mbo LGA at the Operational Base, PHC Enwang on September 09 & 10, 2020 and in Urue Offong/Oruko LGA at the Operational Base, Urue Offong on September 14 & 15, 2020. A total of thirty-five (35) persons comprised of thirty-three (33) females and three (3) males participated in the Refresher Training across the three LGAs.The Refresher Training was aimed at re-enlightening the participants on ethics, code of conduct, best practices, Focused ANC care, and well as signs/symptoms of pre-eclampsia and its management. The theme for the Refresher Training was “Maternal and Newborn Care with Focus on Pre-Eclampsia” and the following are its highlights: The Refresher Training was anchored by Mrs. Grace Okon, the Reproductive Health Coordinator of the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health Public Health Directorate and Mrs. Cecilia Etuk, the Safe Motherhood Supervisor of Ibesikpo Asutan LGA who is also the chairman of Akwa Ibom State Safe Motherhood Forum.
