Project close-out and award ceremony of TY Danjuma Foundation Funded Project titled “Healthy Mother Healthy Child” was carried out on 2nd December 2020 at Antofitel Hotels and suites, 13 Ebong Street, Oron Akwa Ibom State. The objectives of the activity were: (1) to close the project officially, though the project activities will continue till January 2021 (2) to communicate project gains and challenges to stakeholders and (3) to strengthen already established commitment of stakeholders so as to ensure project sustainability.



The event was laudable enough to attract key actors in the sector at state and Local Government levels, community leaders, and other stakeholders including members of the press such as Pioneer Newspapers. The office of Directorate of Public Health, State Ministry of Health was represented by a team led by Mrs Grace S. Okon. The Program Manager of Akwa Ibom State Agency for the Control of AIDS (AKSACA) was represented by the Monitoring and Evaluation Director, Mr. Emmanuel Benson, as well as the Officer-in-charge PHC Nsit Atai, who was represented by Mr. Edet Etiw Udi.




Also in attendance were community health care providers such as health facility workers, TBAs, PPMVs, Mission Homes Operators and community volunteers were also on ground. A total 31 people (21 females and 10 males ) excluding children.



Presentation of Award – Eight Community health workers comprising PHC workers and TBAs received an award as Healthy Mother Healthy Child Champion, for their outstanding commitment demonstrated during the project in promoting ANC attendance in their communities.
