The Project Close-Out together with an Award Ceremony held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019. The activity held to officially close the 2019 Healthy Mother, Healthy Child Project, disseminate achievements of the project, with testimonials from beneficiaries and service providers (health care centres and traditional birth attendants), also the presentation of awards to beneficiaries selected from community volunteers, health care workers and traditional birth attendants whose performances have been exceptional in the implementation of the project.


12 persons; 5 TBAs, 1 PPMV, 1 Community Chief, 1 Mentor Mother, 1 Case Manager and 3 Community Volunteers (CVs), were awarded as Healthy Mother, Healthy Child Champions for their commitment to promoting Antenatal Care (ANC) attendance and Child Immunization.
The Director of Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health Public Health Directorate, represented by Mrs Imabong, thanked TY Danjuma Foundation for extending its humanitarian services to Akwa Ibom State and implored all participants to encourage ANC attendance by pregnant women. Mr Emediong of Akwa Ibom State Agency for the Control of AIDS in his goodwill message also thanked TY Danjuma Foundation for sponsoring the project. He appreciated the great job ARRDEC had done via the project; the volunteers and all stakeholders who contributed to the overall success of the project.


He added that the engagement of indigenous Community Volunteers by ARRDEC showed that the project sustainability was well planned for from the beginning. He ended his message by promising that the Agency will continue to provide support to ARRDEC and her partners in future projects. In attendance at the Project Close-Out were the Director of the Public Health Department of the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health, the Asst. Focal Person of Akwa Ibom State AIDS and STIs Control Program, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of Akwa State Agency for the Control of AIDS, the Officers-in-Charge of PHCs in the project site, TBAs, Mission Home Operators, Mentor Mothers, CVs, PPMVs. Community Chief, pregnant women, nursing mothers, ARRDEC team, and ARRDEC Board of Trustees.
